About Us
SOS Bahini in its current form has been established in January 2005.
The founders Radha Poudel from Nepal and Raymond Lindinger from the Luxembourg based NGO "Cooperation Humanitaire Luxembourg asbl" joined hands in a mutual vision to fight social injustice towards many of the most underprivileged girls and women in Nepal. We are reaching out to those that are most at risk with the goal to prevent worst forms of discrimination, exploitation and violence.
The SOS Bahini Board is composed by Nepalese women from all walks of life. Management and staff "THE TEAM" are mainly women and where ever possible we are employing women that are belonging to our target groups.
Sister Organization
Cooperation Humanitaire Luxembourg asbl "CHL" is a Luxembourg based NGO. Both organizations joined hands with the aim to expand our activities and make our projects successful and sustainable. Francois Prum,"Chairman CHL"and Nadine Prum Glesener, are both enthusiastic supporters of "SOS Bahini".
CHL does not deduct any administration fee and 100% of your donation is reaching our projects in Nepal directly.
Optimizing not maximizing is our philosophy!
In the year 2009 we have been classified by the Nepalese Government among the six best performing NGO's which are caring for children in Nepal!
Our objective
We consider ourselves as "Social Activists" and it is our mission to prevent worst forms of abuse, exploitation and violence of girls and women in Nepal.
To this end an all encompassing strategy has been developed comprising a number of interconnected and interdependent projects. (Please find diagram under management). All these projects have been established with the sole aim to support, protect and educate our beneficiaries and teach them the skills they need to live a life in safety, dignity and independence.
We are a small organization with a number of innovative, small scaled grassroots projects and personalized assistance. We encourage our beneficiaries to actively participate and thus we were able to weave into the social fabric of our community and establish projects that are accepted by our target groups and supported by the larger community. Our approach is pragmatic, down to earth and efficient!
